The Latest News In AI
By
An update on the latest in multimodal, or artificial intelligence and the products that come with it.
AI, or artificial intelligence, has been on the rise on the topic of discussion over the last few years. As a creative, I've seen a lot of folks in my inner circle be nervous about how quickly it can adapt to prompts and create pieces of art all on its own. The latest AI news I have come across is multimodal generative AI. In this blog post, I will discuss what that is.
AI relies on a series of generative, completely random inputs that then turn into outputs. These include a variety of media, such as images, text-based responses, or audio recordings of the user. The model is then advanced enough to learn what it is and even tell the user the result of its' findings.
There is, of course, a piece of tech that works best with this type of AI. Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, the stuff of science fiction and imagionary ideals that I, as a young teen that was a super fan of the Hunger Games series, would gawk at if it were real say, ten years ago, is now available for purchase for the "low" price of $346.00, and the sales only go up the more bells and whistles you, the buyer, decide to attach to it.
To access the feature of multimodal AI, the user needs to engage with the glasses by saying "Hey, Meta", and then give it a prompt. The glasses will then, after capturing the image through its lenses, will go off of the imagery it has stored in its own system, and reveal what it sees with eerie percision.
I have said this in conversation with others before, but I will reiteratite it here: media such as this, will always be in its infancy until it isn't. Who knows where we will be in five, ten years from now, if the tech in 2024 is *this* advanced? The same goes for what we are familiar with now in social media platforms. The best way to navigate this, as I know it can get overwhelming, is to learn as much as you can with the information provided. Learn, educate, prosper.
Now that you know what multimodal AI is and how its advancing, would you consider buying these glasses? Or any of Meta's other products on the market?
